The MUTEK headquarters in Montreal announces the first hybrid edition in the history of the Festival.
From Tuesday, September 8th to Sunday, September 13th 2020, the Société des arts technologiques (SAT) and the Place des Arts' Cinquième Salle will host the public who will enjoy live audiovisual presentations, which will be broadcast on a new virtual platform designed in collaboration with the Folklore agency. The capacity for each event will be limited to 50 to 100 people and the online broadcast will be open to anyone, anywhere in the world.
Extended virtual experience
MUTEK's main motivation for creating a hybrid festival is to support the local artistic and professional communities that make cultural events possible and thus renew ties with audiences in Montreal and around the world. In this way, it was a priority to move the Festival experience to a personalized virtual platform, which remains true to the MUTEK experience, and which highlights Quebec and Canada-based creators and welcomes international artists, all while continuing to provide a Shared experience that is interactive and amazing:
- 3 virtual stages hosting about 60 audiovisual representations captured live in Montreal or in any other city of the MUTEK network and its international partners.
- An interactive gallery offering more than 20 pieces of Virtual Reality 360 ° and pieces of sound.
- A projection room with a selection of MUTEK Forum master classes and presentations, hosted by artists in the fields of sound design and digital creativity.
- A listening room that will feature a continuous selection of live performances recorded on MUTEK over the last 20 years.
Programming based on equality, inclusion and representation of the cultural diversity of Montreal and the world. The best of electronic music and international digital art will complete the lineup and broaden the horizons of the attendees.
MUTEK México and its artistic community present at the 21st Edition of MUTEK Montreal
Inspired by the mandate of the INTER_CONNECT project developed since 2017, from the MUTEK International Network we have designed and promoted a new initiative in a hybrid format of physical and virtual events that we have called: MUTEK Connect.
MUTEK Mexico joins the experience with two performances produced in collaboration with INTUS Interactive Design, SurfaceMX, Secretaria de Cultura y Secretaría de Relaciones Exteriores: the world premiere of the first joint work by Mabe Fratti and Milena Pafundi based on powerful dreamlike abstractions and the industrial dancehall of Wasted Fates with frenetic speed of Future Forward's visuals.
In addition to the 5 cities that are part of our network, 3 other partners will participate in the Edition 21 of MUTEK Montreal: the Transart Festival in Italy, the Chapelle XIV cultural venue in France, as well as the B39 Art Center and its associated festival, PRECTXE, in South Korea. In total, 9 shows with 25 presentations will add diversity to this huge online experience.
