MUTEK Mexico opened the doors of its 4th Edition with a lineup that took a turn towards the shrillness of electro and the melodic balm of pop, without leaving its vocation for multimedia digital audacity, and for the collective listening experiences of its experimental concerts, who returned with two great events, exploring new presentation spaces; the Angela Peralta Theater and the Indianilla Station, an old power station fitted out as an exhibition space.

Among the invited countries in this edition were Japan and Norway, whose presence was felt with the work of two irreplaceable figures of contemporary sound experimentation: Ryoji Ikeda and Geir Jenssen, with their “arctic sound” project, Biosphere. France returned with a plethora of electro-punk that have been devouring the electronic and indie-rock highways around the world, detonating the MUTEK Mexico stages with artists such as Jackson ans His Computer Band, Sebastian and Krikor, in addition to the duet Gangpol & Mit, who gave us a taste of how much fun it can be to return for our old toys to reinvent childhood and synchronize it with the dizzying and thunderous times we live in.

Mecsadroid
, the solo project by Gabriel Acevedo from Duopandamix, debuted on the MUTEK stage with the Mexican version of this reunion with the 8-bit children's junk. Antiguo Autómata Mexicano returned to MUTEK with an overdose of Kraut-techno-rock, in the old vein of groups like Can and Neu!, accompanied by a live drums set, an act that traced us through psychedelic mental deserts. Skoltz Kolgen returned to present two multimedia works, Silent Room and Askaa, within the framework of MUTEK A/VISIONS, a segment that this year was implemented as a window towards cinematographic experimental work, a discipline that maintains an intense and fruitful dialogue with the sound arts nowadays.
