Ash FureUS
As an absolute force of contemporary creation, Ash Fure's sonic waves resonate strongly in both the sound art and experimental scenes, as well as in the academic world. In addition to numerous accolades, she holds a PhD in Music Composition from Harvard, is an associate professor at Dartmouth University, and is co-artistic director of the collective The Industry.
ANIMAL, the performance she will present at Nocturne, is inspired by her experiences in clubs in Detroit and Berlin, conceived from "a feminist impulse against some of the more body-separated approaches in electronic music" and "a rediscovery of our animal intelligence, a realignment of ourselves with the animal world in the face of artificial intelligence," as she describes it in her own words.
With ANIMAL, Ash Fure has rocked stages in both cultural institutions and specialized festivals such as Big Ears, CTM, and Unsound. This striking piece has evolved since its conception in 2020, as a hybrid installation, a full-scale architectural takeover, and the format we'll see at MUTEK MX, in which Ash uses a polycarbonate sheet to filter and project sound through the space, from a platform of inverted subwoofers.
