From transdisciplinary research to experimentation and intense audiovisual collaborations, Florence To intervenes in reality with a powerful physicality. With installation as the core of a practice that crosses disciplines and environments, Florence creates sculptures, machines, and objects that disrupt or reconfigure each architectural context in which they interact.
As Tyryx, Florence To's intention centers on the aural experience: an intervention in space, the senses, and the innermost recesses of our neurons through sound stimuli. Tyryx uses space, matter, and perception as instruments.
Self-built machines, electroacoustic synthesis, and field recordings that create conceptual drifts: their albums DYSPRAXYS (2024) and CYEMA (2025) invite us to rethink ecological listening and the interconnected relationships between organisms and their environments.
During the MUTEK MX 21 event at the Anahuacalli Museum, Tyryx will present a psychoacoustic performance based on a sound sculpture installation inspired by the avian syrinx, a vocal organ that allows some birds to sing in two voices or imitate other species. Florence To will also participate in the scenographic design for Circle of Live at Nocturne on Friday the 10th.
