Edition 18

11.2022

For a week, the energy of MUTEK MX Edition 18 spread throughout Mexico City to connect emotions, communities and ideas through intense encounters of art, technology and experimentation.

With installations, audiovisual lives, multidisciplinary performances, XR, and digital expressions in full evolution that felt as new as they were transcendental, the first face-to-face edition in three years brought together more than 50 artists and studios from Mexico and the world with a diverse and intergenerational audience. eager for innovation and surprise

This reunion of artists and disciplines in a new configuration of formats and locations was an extreme experience, with emotions always at the center: pioneering artists still at the forefront alongside exciting new generations; dancing multiplied by a movement sensor and also by a dozen performers; galloping rhythms and absolute contemplation; live coding and software in front of a cello and a harp; emerging formats like XR and the purity of the human voice in one place…

With Papalote Museo del Niño, Museo Anahuacalli, and Quarry Studios as the main locations for Edition 18, each stage maintained an exchange of energy that was transmuted into iconic moments in which the artists were able to fully experience and detonate their vision.

Also, throughout the week, the extended program interspersed the MUTEK MXagenda with special collaborations dedicated to the exchange of skills and expressions. Spaces such as Studio+ at Casa Versalles and the INTUS and HolaWave studios presented activities focused on fostering the creative connections that arise in the face-to-face ecosystem of spaces such as Digi Lab and the Gastronomic Route, thanks to the collaboration of our allies.

Throughout seven days, Edition 18 was a window into what is to come for MUTEK MX as a creative hub and meeting point between innovative artists and adventurous audiences. Very soon news about what is to come!

MUTEK MX appreciates the talent and dedication of all the artists, allies and collaborators of Edition 18.
