Vocalist Ángelica Ballesteros and producers error.error and Bonsai Babies grew up in the manufacturing city of Hermosillo, Sonora, 1200 miles northwest of Mexico City. Despite the challenge of distance, they became figureheads of Mexico City’s neo-perrero scene on the release of their debut ep in 2019. Now post-perreo, Meth Math cite influences from as far afield as Enya to Autechre.
Their debut album, Chupetones, arrived in early 2023 and was co-produced by bonsai babies, error.error and legendary miami producer Nick León. The band has been heralded as the future of electronic music and championed by Dazed, The Quietus and Pitchfork, amongst many other regional and international tastemakers.
