As The Bionic Harpist, Alex Tibbitts presents us with a symbiotic dance between her instrument, the human and the digital, constructing a contemporary metaphor made even more relevant by the fact that half of his body contains metal. Tibbitts comes from the classical and orchestral world, and is also a member of the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Music Media and Technology (CIRMMT) at McGill University since 2016.

Techno para dos is the experimental electronic project of Raúl Villamil, active since 2015 with constant solo releases and a long list of collaborations that include artists such as Argenis Brito, Camille Mandoki, Ellen Allien and Mircohom. He has also made music for contemporary dance and is co-founder of the VAA label, one of the bastions of downtempo, IDM and experimental pop in Mexico City. In 2022 he received the EMS (Elektronmusikon) experimental sound residency in Stockholm, Sweden.

Following a captivating concert as part of MUTEK MX in 2022, Alex Tibbits returns as The Bionic Harpist to present the latest iteration of her electroacoustic performance, this time in a special collaboration alongside Mexican producer Raúl Villamil aka Techno para Dos. Fran-gere, the performance they have created together, emerges right at the intersection of their instruments - an intervened harp and a Moog Matarich - to speculate on the sound of a modular harp.

For MUTEK MX Edition 20, Fran-gere will premiere its immersive audiovisual version, which expands the exploration of this modular harp recreated between Alex and Raúl to a synchronous lighting display that is also modulated from the strings of The Bionic Harpist.
