Artist, composer, researcher, and curator. He studied composition at the Faculty of Music of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and is now part of the Master of Arts program at the Postgraduate Program in Arts and Design (PAD-UNAM). He has had six solo exhibitions: at the Espacio de Experimentación Sonora (Sound Experimentation Space) at the Museo Universitario de Arte Contemporáneo (MUAC-UNAM), at Laboratorio Arte Alameda (CDMX), at the Galería de Arte Contemporáneo (IVEC-Xalapa), at Espacio Sonoro (UAM-X), and at the gallery of the Center for NetArt (Berlin, Germany).
He also participated in several group exhibitions in different cities in Asia, Europe, and the Americas. His work is part of public and private collections. As a researcher, he worked at the Scientific Visualization Laboratory and the Ixtli Virtual Reality Observatory (DGTIC-UNAM). He is the founder of SEMIMUTICAS (Research Seminar in Music, Mathematics, and Computing), the biohacking space Independencia Biolab, the Mathematics Visualization and Sonification Laboratory, and the "Javier Covarrubias" Sensory Experimentation Laboratory.
He is currently an associate researcher at the Center for Complexity Sciences (C3-UNAM), a visiting professor at the Autonomous Metropolitan University (UAM-X), and collaborates with the Institute of Mathematics (IM-UNAM), the Institute for Research in Applied Mathematics and Systems (IIMAS-UNAM), and the Institute of Cellular Physiology (IFC-UNAM) on transdisciplinary projects in art, science, and technology. He has several international publications in conference proceedings, peer-reviewed journals, and books, with publishers such as Cambridge Scholars, Springer, Taylor & Francis, Siglo XXI, and the Mexican Mathematical Society.
