Antimateria Sonora Ensamble^MX

Antimatter Sonora Ensamble makes its debut at MUTEK MX with Terra Incógnita, a performance that hybridizes sound, video and laser mapping to expand the hypnotic effects of a painting as the starting point of this exploration. This expansive collective from Mexico City has been amplifying ambient, sound design, drone, and related sounds for nearly five years through publications, events, and multicultural experiences. As Ensamble, it is made up of Kristel Rascón aka Phanta, Diego Hernandez aka Tahres, and Emilio Ancira aka Shakiro, who developed Terra Incógnita as a multidisciplinary experience in three movements, to narrate an expedition to that enigmatic planet captured in the acrylic painting that triggers the project, by Kristel Rascón, and that expands through ambient sounds. For this live A/V, Miguel Ángel Islas also collaborates in lighting and Uriel Olivares in editing.

With a constant activity with CDMX as the core but with a national and international reach, Antimateria Sonora is a diverse ecosystem that includes special events, curatorship, radio and multimedia content. Shakiro and Thares are two of its co-founders, soon joined by Phanta and complemented by dozens of multidisciplinary artists from Mexico, Chile, Costa Rica, Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, the United States, Canada, France and Japan. Shakiro experiments with visual art, light studies, lasers, music creation and sound design and has published on labels such as Sonido Inconsciente and Hypersonics. In addition to producing bass, dubstep and beatbox, Tahres experiments with 360 video technology and is an audio engineer. For his part, Phanta takes the sounds of dark ambient, dubstep and experimental electronics as an influence for his productions and DJ sets, as well as developing as a VJ and visual artist.
