Tomoko SauvageFR/JP
Tomoko Sauvage is a Japanese multi-instrumentalist and composer based in France who explores the sculptural capabilities of sound and improvisation in relation to the environment.
Her deep interest in hydrophonic feedback engendered the idea of using underwater microphones and led to the birth of an electro-aquatic instrument, a natural synthesizer of her invention that combines water, ceramics and electronics creating a unique sound universe. The drops, the waves and the bubbles resonate in the water bowls, are amplified by hydrophones, and emerge as undulating drones and natural harmonics, generating bright and luminous sound. The resulting experience is of unusual beauty.
Tomoko Sauvage is presented with the support of the Consulate of Japan in Barcelona and Institut Français as part of the MUSE ¨A new Wave in the Mediterranean¨ program, promoted by the Italian Consulate General in Barcelona.
