The energy of MUTEK MX is already felt in Mexico City and, with the imminent arrival of the 20th Edition, we are excited to present the Third Confirmations, made up mainly of the advance of artists and projects that are mobilizing digital art in the country.

Along with the 12 Selected projects of the Frente Nacional Call, launched in May 2024 and with more than 150 applications received, we highlight the Mexican artists who are part of the Special Collaborations that complement the 20th anniversary of the festival. This line of programming stands out for showing unprecedented creative alliances between sound, visual and transmedia artists who will have the premiere of their performances as part of the festival, together with projects and artists that represent the creative circuit that is mobilized in forums, parties and independent spaces throughout the year.

In total, more than 20 Mexican artists and projects will present audiovisual live performances, immersive pieces and transmedia performances that will show us the current state of the art and future trends in digital art produced in the country.

Audiovisual meta-fictions, experimental ambient, dub-techno and transmedia atmospheres at the festival locations.

The international programming also expands, with the Latin American debut of Iglooghost (UK) presenting the audiovisual version of their mind-blowing album Tidal Memory Exo (LuckyMe, 2024), the return of experimentalist Lee Gamble (UK) and the godfather of dub-techno on our continent, Deadbeat (CA).

As an essential part of the MUTEK MX experience, transmedia artists Corey Schnider (AU) and Zalán Szakács (RO) join Boris Acket (NL) creative team for the settings and stage design of the two nights of Nocturne 360. Lighting artist and stage designer Theresa Baumgartner (DE) will create the atmosphere for the A/Visions 2 program at the Anahuacalli Museum.

For two weeks, MUTEK MX will be an intersectional space in which artists, collectives and audiences who have been pushing the possibilities of technology and art for decades will share with the new generations who are taking the baton and bringing us closer to the future of digital art.
