Wata Igarashi

Although this is the year that we finally have Agartha (Kompakt, 2023), the surprising debut album by Wata Igarashi, the Japanese DJ, producer and engineer is already one of the most powerful names to emerge from Japanese underground techno. With a style that takes frequency control as a means to induce psychedelic sensations and a clean and forceful sound design, Wata delivers live and DJ sets that stimulate mind, soul and body from a cosmic and space-inspired imagery.

This precision between reality and fiction so characteristic of Igarashi is also the result of a decade of putting his vision into practice in an extensive list of singles, EP's, and collaborations on labels such as Figure, Semantica, Time to Express, The Bunker. NY, Omnidisc, Bitta and Midgar. After an intense summer tour with more than 20 international dates, Igarashi's space-techno ship will finally land at MUTEK MX this October. Don't hesitate to board.

JS Baillat

Deploying vivid color, striking geometric design and arresting animations, JS Baillat taps into music's pulse and purpose to create synergies between sight and sound that fly from the screen. For over 15 years as a solo artist and collaborator, he has been creating elegant and glossy high-tech visuals, 360-degree dome performances, light and laser design, installations and scenography. A long time visual collaborator with MUTEK, JS Baillat's career includes work with Sasha and John Digweed, A-Trak, Señor Coconut, C2MTL, Ariane Moffat, Place des Arts, Moment Factory, Cirque du Soleil and many more.

This edition of MUTEK MX will be presented together with the Japanese producer Wata Igarashi, with a lot of experimentation between space, light and images to accompany Igarashi's cosmic-inspired techno.
